Description: The quality of a premium shirt is often judged the moment someone wears it, not the moment they see it. While colour, pattern and fit may influence the first impression, it is the fabric that decides how the shirt performs over time. Whether it stays comfortable through long hours, keeps its shape after repeated washing or continues to look refined after regular use all depends on the way the fabric has been developed. This is why premium shirting is about much more than good design. It is built on the science and precision behind the fabric itself.
Premium clothing today is judged by more than its appearance. Buyers are paying closer attention to how a shirt feels and whether it performs well after repeated washing. This has encouraged textile manufacturers to focus on every stage of fabric development. From fibre selection and yarn quality to weaving and finishing, each process plays a role in determining the comfort, durability and overall performance of the final fabric.
Quality Begins Before the Fabric Is Woven
Every premium shirting fabric begins with the right raw material. Cotton remains the preferred fibre because of its natural comfort, but not every cotton fibre performs in the same way. Read More

Description: Bangladesh’s vital textile sector was already suffering high energy costs from the Middle East conflict when a fire at one of its two gas import terminals last month further exposed its energy insecurity and forced industry leaders to look to other fuels.
The textile industry employs some four million people out of a total industrial workforce of about 14 million and produces around 80 per cent of Bangladesh’s exports and about 13 per cent of its GDP. But the industry is heavily reliant on gas for its wet processing operations such as washing, dyeing and finishing clothes.
Bangladesh has a longstanding gas supply shortfall due to local production falling and import costs rising. Qatar, one of the world’s biggest exporters of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has said its supply to Bangladesh will be slashed. A fire at one of Bangladesh’s two LNG terminals last month then cut supply to just over a half of demand, according to data from state-owned oil and gas company Petrobangla.

Research in basic sciences, health care and engineering subjects like IT, AI get major support from governments. The manufacturing sector is gaining attention in developed countries as well as in developing regions because of its ability to provide jobs for a non-college educated population.
In manufacturing, applied and multidisciplinary research enables new products that can improve the health, safety, and lifestyle of consumers. “Researchers with multidisciplinary training are often in a better position to understand the complexities and contribute ideas based on emerging technologies as well as recent theoretical developments and cultural trends, which can spark innovation,” stated Dr. Amelia Talley, Associate Dean for Research and Engaged Scholarship in the College of Arts & Sciences [CAS], Texas Tech University [TTU], USA.
Countries like United States and India are boosting manufacturing and multidisciplinary research in areas which can enable job growth. The manufacturing sector has many subsectors such as textiles, which need skill enhancement, boost in applied R & D, and translational research. Among different areas within textiles, opportunities are there for education and training in the technical textiles sector which grows above the GDP of nations. Description: In the period between April and June 2026, order intake for Italian textile machinery manufacturers showed mixed but encouraging signals for the second half of the year. The order index at constant prices stood at 46.6 points (taking 2021=100 as the base year), showing a slight decrease of 3% compared to the same quarter of 2025. This trend was largely due to the contraction recorded in the domestic market, which fell by 25% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Looking at the overall balance sheet for the first six months of 2026, total orders posted a 4% decline compared to the first half of 2025, split between -11% in Italy and -3% abroad.
While the year-on-year comparison suffers from particularly challenging baselines, the quarter-on-quarter perspective offers a picture of strong recovery. Compared to the first quarter of 2026 (January–March), total order intake surged by 25%, driven by a lively rebound in both domestic (+39%) and international (+23%) demand.
On the operational front, the total backlog accumulated by companies currently guarantees about 3.5 months of assured production, while the capacity utilization rate stood at 79.7%. Read More

Description: India’s textile and garment exports to the US plummeted 28.7 per cent year-on-year in February 2026, marking the sixth consecutive month of decline since the imposition of reciprocal tariff in August 2025, per an industry analysis.
According to figures collated by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), exports to India’s largest market for textiles and garments dropped to $0.63 billion.
While India’s contraction was significant, largely owing to the 25 per cent reciprocal tariff (removed after the February 20 Supreme Court verdict and later replaced with a global tariff of 10 per cent) and another 25 per cent penal tariffs for its Russian oil imports (which were removed on February 7), other major exporting countries saw varying results. Description: Despite continued export growth, the textile and garment industry is facing the risk of a downturn as second-quarter orders are forecast to fall sharply by 20–25%. The latest statistics from the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) show that the country’s textile and garment exports reached 14.53 billion USD in the first four months of this year, up 4.3% year-on-year. The yarn and fibre segment posted strong growth with export revenue of 2.62 billion USD, an increase of 20.1%, while garment exports reached 11.9 billion USD, up slightly by 1.3%. In the US market, Vietnam continued to maintain its leading position with a 21.4% market share. These figures indicate that the textile and garment industry has maintained growth momentum despite ongoing volatility in the global economy. However, in reality, the sector is facing numerous challenges. The Dai Doan Ket (Great Unity) newspapers quoted Nguyen Hung Quy, General Director of Vinatex Textile and Garment Southern Corporation Limited Liability Company, as saying that weakening global demand has caused new orders to come in very slowly, while some buyers had even reduced or cancelled orders. Order volumes in the second quarter are expected to decline sharply by 20–25% compared to the same period last year, he said. Read More

Recent garment industry updates highlight a mixed landscape where growth opportunities coexist with significant operational challenges. India, as a major player in the global apparel supply chain, reflects these trends through shifting export performance, rising input costs, and increased government intervention. On the positive side, policy initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and integrated textile parks are encouraging investment, boosting manufacturing capacity, and generating employment.
